Clicking Dictate turns the island into a pink level meter with a clock while the user speaks; on ⌃⇧D it transcribes and inserts the formatted email into the Mail window, starting "Hi Priya,". Does dictation work in every app?
Anywhere you can type — Mail, Slack, Xcode, a browser box, a Google Doc. It holds back in password fields and copies to the clipboard instead.
Does it work offline?
No. Transcription happens on our servers, so dictation needs a connection. Everything you've already captured stays readable offline.
Record or the notetaker — which one?
Record captures the call on this Mac, both sides, with nothing joining it. The notetaker is a visible participant that labels who said what and keeps going with your lid closed. Both end as the same entry. If the conversation is confidential, Record is the tighter path: the audio goes to your account and the transcription step and nowhere else, while the notetaker is run by a third-party service that holds the call for 72 hours before deleting it.

Free to download, with 7 days of everything. Dictation, the notetaker and the AI features are Premium after that; your notes are always yours. Audio is processed into your own private account — details in the privacy policy. Runs on macOS 14.6 or later, Apple silicon and Intel.
